Immobiliser Bypass: What It Is and When You Need It

Every UK car manufactured after 1998 is legally required to have an immobiliser fitted. While they are great for security, a faulty immobiliser can leave you completely unable to start your vehicle.

How Immobilisers Work

The transponder chip in your key sends a unique code to the car ECU. If the ECU does not receive the correct code, it cuts the fuel or ignition circuit.

Common Faults

  • Damaged transponder chip
  • ECU fault storing wrong key codes
  • Damaged antenna ring
