How to Tell if Your Car Key Transponder is Failing
If your car is starting intermittently, taking multiple attempts to start, or simply not starting at all, a failing transponder chip could be the cause. Modern cars manufactured after 1995 are fitted with an immobiliser system that requires the transponder chip in your key to communicate with the car ECU before the engine will start.
Signs of a Failing Transponder Chip
- Car starts occasionally but not every time
- Engine cranks but will not fire
- Immobiliser light stays on after starting
- Key works fine one day, not the next
What to Do
If you suspect a transponder issue, call LS Auto Locksmiths. We can test your key transponder signal on-site and either reprogram the existing chip or supply and program a replacement โ usually within 30 minutes.
